It takes an awful lot of time and commitment for small farmers and growers to commit to a 20 week, Summer Farmers’ Market circuit. If the truth be told, at the end of the day, one just barely breaks even for the booth rental and insurance. The bigger truth is the priceless experience for us to interact with our foodies, share recipes, answer questions , laugh and joke with our neighbours and regular customers.
Inglewood farmers market was initiated by Jen Clarke and Karen Hutcheson, of the organization Caledon Countryside Alliance. Roxanne Mountain offered the side hill and backyard of what was then the Inglewood Village Store as the venue. That was a great market! Probably one of the best in my opinion, because it was truly local and small enough to hang out and visit with neighbours.
It was relocated across the road to the Lloyd Wilson Arena area for better access and parking. Riverdale had a booth for the four or five years the market was in Inglewood .
